What this tool actually checks

Every email goes through a full set of checks in a couple of seconds: the format (is it even a valid address?), the domain (does it exist and run mail servers?), the mailbox (does the server confirm this inbox can receive mail?), and the risk level (is it disposable, role-based, or a catch-all?). You get a full report with a quality score from 0 to 100 not just “valid or invalid.”

Why verifying emails matters

Every dead address you email hurts you twice. The bounce damages your sender reputation, and a damaged reputation pushes your good emails into spam. Mailbox providers track your bounce rate closely cross their thresholds and entire campaigns quietly stop landing. Cleaning your list before you send is the cheapest deliverability upgrade there is: fewer bounces, better inbox placement, no wasted sends. If you do cold outreach, this is step zero.

How to use it

For one email: paste it, hit Check email (or just press Enter), and read the full report. For a list: switch to Bulk CSV, upload your file, watch the progress bar, then download the cleaned file with a status and score next to every address. The free limit is 50 checks per week per person and resets automatically, no account needed.

What the results mean

Valid the mailbox exists and accepts mail; safe to send. Invalid the address is dead or malformed; remove it. Unknown the server wouldn’t confirm either way (common with catch-all domains and big providers like Gmail); send carefully or skip. The score blends everything: disposable addresses, role accounts like info@ and support@, and catch-all domains all lower it, because they bounce or go unread more often.

Is my data safe?

We don’t save your emails or lists nothing is stored on our servers, and results disappear when you leave the page. The live mailbox test runs through a secure verification service, and a quick human-check (captcha) protects the tool from bots. Your list is yours; we just clean it.

Frequently asked questions

Is this email verifier really free?

Yes 50 verifications per week, free, no sign-up, no credit card. The counter resets automatically every 7 days.

How does email verification work without sending an email?

The tool talks to the address’s mail server the same way a sending server would checking the format, the domain’s MX records, and whether the mailbox exists, but stops before any message is sent. The mailbox owner never knows a check happened.

Can I verify a bulk list?

Yes. Upload a CSV (or a plain text file with one email per line), watch the progress bar, and download the results with a status and quality score for every address. Bulk checks count toward the same 50-per-week limit.

What does “unknown” mean?

The mail server refused to confirm whether the mailbox exists, usually a catch-all domain that accepts everything, a server with strict privacy settings, or big providers like Gmail. Treat unknowns with care: send in small batches or skip them for important campaigns.

What is a catch-all (accept-all) domain?

A domain configured to accept mail for any address, so the server says “yes” even for mailboxes that don’t exist. No verifier can fully confirm these; that’s why they lower the quality score.

What’s a disposable email?

A temporary address from a throwaway inbox service, usually created to grab a freebie and never checked again. They’re flagged because they’re worthless for outreach and often used for fake signups.

What’s a role-based email?

Addresses like info@, sales@ or support@ that belong to a team, not a person. They’re valid but convert poorly in outreach and are more likely to mark you as spam, so they lower the score.

Is it safe to paste my email list here?

We don’t store or log your emails, checks run in real time and results live only in your browser tab. The mailbox test itself is processed by a secure verification service.

How accurate is it?

Format, domain and disposable checks are essentially exact. Mailbox checks are highly reliable for normal domains, while catch-all domains are honestly labeled “unknown” instead of being guessed, any tool claiming 100% on catch-alls is overselling.

What bounce rate should I aim for?

Under 2%. Above that, mailbox providers start treating your domain with suspicion, and above 5% you’re in real deliverability trouble. Verifying before sending keeps you comfortably under.

What happens when I hit the weekly limit?

The tool tells you, and your 50 checks come back automatically 7 days after your first check. Need more? Email Mo@ExceLinks.io and tell us what you’re working on, we’re friendly.

Why is a link building agency giving this away?

Because we verify thousands of emails a month for our own outreach, and a clean list is where every good campaign starts. If you’re cleaning a list for a link building campaign, that’s literally our day job.
