Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy covers the LinkScope: Outbound & External Link Checker browser extension, made by ExceLinks.
The short version
LinkScope does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data. Not your browsing, not the pages you check, not analytics, nothing.
How the extension works
When you click the LinkScope icon, the extension reads the links on that one page, in your browser, to highlight and count them. All of this happens locally on your device. The extension has no server, makes no network requests, and includes no analytics or tracking of any kind. When you close the panel or leave the page, nothing persists.
Permissions, explained
LinkScope requests two permissions: activeTab, which lets it access the current page only when you click the icon, and scripting, which lets it run the highlighting script on that page. It cannot see your other tabs, your history, or any page you haven’t activated it on.
External links
The panel contains one outbound link, labeled “by ExceLinks,” which opens excelinks.io if you choose to click it. That’s a normal website visit, subject to our site’s own practices, nothing about your extension usage is sent with it beyond a standard link tag telling us the visit came from the extension.
Changes
If a future version of LinkScope ever changes any of the above, we’ll update this page and the extension’s store listing before releasing it.
